Top 3 Hair Problems SOLVED

27 Sep

What do Hillary Duff, Kristin Cavallari and Jennifer Aniston all have in common? Drop-dead gorgeous hair! Their secret? Kérastase—a brand of luxury hair products made with avant-garde technology designed to transform your dull, lifeless hair into a shiny crown of glory, and we all agree that it lives up to its claim.

Kérastase, unlike any other hair treatments line out on the market, truly captures the salon experience with its breakthrough formulations and patented active ingredients. It is this combination of luxury and innovation that has catapulted Kérastase into the stratosphere of popularity among Hollywood stars and socialites, celebrity hair stylists and top models alike. Its broad range of products addresses not only hair issues, but also reestablishes the scalp as a healthy nursery for the hair. No matter what type of hair you have—thick, curly, fine or damaged, you can find a Kérastase treatment that’s right for you. Today we’ll focus on three of the biggest hair dilemmas out there: sun damaged locks, long and tangled tresses, and limp and flat strands. We’ll show you how to turn your problematic, misbehaving hair into the bouncy, healthy mane of a goddess just like your favourite stars.

Concentrate Vita-CimentSun Damaged Locks

First let’s talk about UV rays. We all know the harm these pesky rays can cause for our skin and eyes but we rarely think about the effects they have on our hair. Dry, split ends and colour fading are just two of the most common issues linked to sun exposure and they can literally suck the life out of any hair style. Luckily, Kérastase has a secret weapon made to attack these specific problems. Part of Kérastase’s Resistance line, Concentrate Vita-Ciment is a ceramide-based product that fortifies your hair fibers by reconstructing and strengthening them down to the intercellular level; it is an intensive repairing treatment for ultra-damaged hair. The application of Vita-Ciment is easy: spray the product onto clean, towel-dried hair and massage thoroughly from root to tip. Leave on for about 5 minutes and rinse. After using this treatment, your hair will be able to stand up to the heat against the sun’s hot rays, and it will be able to resist all the “torture” you put it through with all that blow-drying and hot-ironing.

The Skin Rx: 5 Tips To Great Skin

17 Sep

As we make the transition into fall, sometimes our skin can take on a life of its own with crazy blemishes, dryness or sensitivity. Don’t panic. With the right products, proper skincare routine combined with good habits, you’ll be able to extinguish those skincare woes in no time!

beauty face washDon’t believe me? I urge you to try the following tips for three weeks and let me know if you see a difference.

1.     Bottoms Up! That is water of course. Body cells need plenty of water to function properly and eliminate toxins that zap the life out of our skin; depriving them of this vital substance means you get lazy cells, and the result? Dull, tired looking skin. If you think chugging eight glasses of water is boring, there are many other ways to sneak H2O into your diet such as drinking broths, real fruit/vegetable juices, or eating fruits such as watermelon that contain high water content. The point is to keep your body hydrated and working at its peak so your skin can shine.

2.     Slough Off. Exfoliation will effectively remove dead skin cell buildup and speed up cell renewal. It also improves blood circulation in your face and draws impurities from deep within your pores. Look for gentle products with small exfoliating beads that are not too jagged or if you’d like to use ingredients from your pantry, try mixing a spoon of sugar to some moisturizing lotion, rub the mixture into your skin in circular motion and then rinse. Although diligent exfoliation is commendable, you can have too much of a good thing; because your skin can become sensitive and raw when you go overboard, exfoliating once a week is often enough.

4 Looks To Watch For This Fall 2010

30 Aug

Feeling the chills of September? It’s time to pack away the minis and embrace something a little warmer while still keeping the chic appeal intact!

C’est Faux

Rihanna-Faux-Fur-VestFirst up is the saturation of faux fur that we’re seeing all over this season’s runways and sported by one of our favorite fashionistas Rihanna. Like it or not, this furry look is anything but boring and it is here to stay. Faux fur vests, faux fur jackets, you name it—they’re the most sought-after items of fall 2010. They’re the hottest pieces around, literally!

Attention!!

Remember a younger, less crazy Tom Cruise back when he was in “A Few Good Men”, rockin’ that military look? While Tom is slowing down on the “people’s choice” meter, the military trend continues to march on into the realm of popularity thanks to stars like Madonna. Burberry’s 2010 fall line has some great pieces that exemplify this silhouette. Also check out Ali Ro’s 2010 fall lineup for more dramatic looks. You can take this look up a notch by using pieces such as buttons and pins or any other military-inspired accessories. Don’t go overboard though—you want a stylish military look, not a crazy uniform.

No Pain, No Gain – 7 Reasons Why You Should Wax

27 Aug

Surprised_Spa_Woman WaxingGirls, we’ve all done it before—wrestled with a razor in front of our bathroom mirror as we fervently removed those stubborn stubbles, usually in an early morning frenzy or right before an important date. No matter how hard we try, the hairs just kept coming back, each time quicker than the last and more determined to reclaim their turf. I used to believe shaving everyday was just part of life, a nuisance, but tolerable. I thought that once you entered the nightmare cycle of shaving, there was no way out. Well I’m telling you now, there’s IS a way out — waxing!

Sounds painful? It is. I’m not going to lie. Waxing is not for the faint-hearted; it is a deliriously painful experience for “waxing virgins”—one that makes you shed a tear or two, or downright sob like a baby in a dirty diaper. I suggest you find yourself a professional who knows what she’s doing and if you happen to find a well-trained Esthetician whose skills greatly reduce your discomfort, cling onto her!

For those who want to try waxing at home, I recommend taking a hot shower beforehand just to soften the hairs, open up the pores and in turn, reduce the amount of pain you’ll experience. You can also place a bottle of body lotion in the fridge and slather the chilled cream onto your skin immediately after to calm and soothe the areas you’ve just waxed. Don’t forget to exfoliate regularly to remove dead-skin buildup that could lead to ingrown hairs.
